The Dallas Mavericks are keeping an eye on forward John Collins‘ situation with the Atlanta Hawks, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.
Collins will be a restricted free agent this summer, and while the Mavericks may not have the pieces to work out a Collins trade, could make a major pitch to him during the offseason.
“If John Collins were to get hold of restricted free agency, expect the Mavericks to make a significant offer, according to league sources,” Fischer wrote.
The Mavericks are reportedly open to moving forward Kristaps Porzingis, and a source told FortyEightMinutes’ Chris Crouse that the Wizards are among those interested. It is not known if the Hawks would have an interest in Porzingis.
Either way, the Hawks have yet to reach a deal with Collins, which could signify a split is on the way. Multiple reports suggest the Hawks are willing listeners for teams interested in a Collins trade.
Collins, 23, is 6-foot-9 and averaging 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. He has also been linked to the Boston Celtics.
