The Orlando Magic are waiving center Khem Birch for the purpose of giving him an opportunity to play elsewhere, according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic.
Birch appears to be heading to the Toronto Raptors, as Robbins and The Athletic’s Sham Charania added.
Birch, 28, is 6-foot-9 and has been with the Magic since 2017, after going undrafted out of UNLV three years earlier. He is averaging 5.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 48 appearances.
The Raptors have been looking for help in the middle, which would make Birch a natural fit. Since the Raptors are playing home games in Tampa this season, Birch won’t have to travel very far if he does indeed sign on.
Prior to joining the Magic, he spent time in Greece, Turkey and the G League.
