Veteran cameraman Andy Thompson has been filming life inside the NBA bubble with intentions of making a docuseries similar to the award-winning “The Last Dance,” as relayed by Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Taylor was actually executive producer for the documentary centered on Michael Jordan and the 1998 Chicago Bulls, which won an Emmy after becoming the most-watched documentary in ESPN history. In fact, ratings for “The Last Dance” easily topped those for the NBA’s return on the Disney campus.
Either way, Taylor seems to believe bubble life will be an inside look worth sharing.
“It’s definitely going to be used in some kind of a long-form documentary, a series,” Thompson told McMenamin. “I don’t know where or when. But to get it right is really important and it’s really a lot of pressure. Because this can be duplicated, but it can’t be replicated. And so we got to make sure that we cross every t and dot every i and make sure we get it right.”
Thompson has worked as a videographer for NBA Entertainment for 33 years. He is the uncle of Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson and the brother of Mychal Thompson, Klay’s father and the No. 1 overall pick in the 1978 draft.
