The Lakers’ struggles continue this season and it’s likely that Rob Pelinka & Co. seek some sort of trade before the deadline.
No, it won’t be Russell Westbrook despite all the scrutiny the L.A. faithful is giving to get the former MVP out of Southern California. It’s more likely that the club looks to Northern California for a trade target.
The team still has interest in Buddy Hield, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports (via latest episode of his Posted Up podcast)
The Lakers have reportedly discussed a package that involved Talen Horton-Tucker heading to Sacramento (h/t to Bleacher Report). Los Angeles would have to send more to Sacramento in such a deal since they’d have to match Hield’s $23M+ salary.
Los Angeles’ interest in Hield isn’t anything new; they were rumored to trade for him before the Russell Westbrook trade came through. As it was in the summer, Los Angeles trading for Buddy would be a great fit for the franchise, as the shooting guard’s ability to space the floor would only make life easier for LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Westbrook.
