Several teams are interested in trading for Wizards point guard Tyus Jones, including the Magic, Spurs, Nets, and Lakers, sources tell Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
The Timberwolves were in the mix, though the team’s trade for Monte Morris takes them out of the Jones sweepstakes. Minnesota was rumored to have four second-round picks on the table for Jones, though Scotto hears that the offer was never made.
With hours remaining in the trade deadline, the Wizards are reportedly still looking for a first-round pick if they part with Jones. However, the franchise is putting out the message that they value Jones and could re-sign him this offseason if no trade occurs.
The Wizards value Jones as a potential piece going forward and are open to re-signing him in free agency this summer, league sources told HoopsHype.
Latest on Kuzma
As we explained in our 2024 Wizards NBA Trade Deadline preview, Washington may opt to keep Kuzma as it reshapes the roster, balancing a youth movement with some recognizable veterans.
Teams around the league are getting the sense that it’s going to take a major package to pry the forward from Washington.
The Wizards would need multiple future first-round picks beyond the 2024 draft with the potential to become lottery picks to consider parting with Kuzma, as HoopsHype previously reported.
Latest on Delon Wright
Delon Wright is expected to draw interest and it’s possible that a second-round pick could free him from Washington, per Scotto. The Celtics, Kings, and Timberwolves have been linked to Wright, though as with Jones, Minnesota’s Morris acquisition takes them out of the running.
Wright was one of three players we deemed as Expected To Be Traded in our 2024 NBA Trade Deadline Preview piece.
