When you have LeBron James, apparently at any age, you’re the favorites. It doesn’t hurt if you have Anthony Davis and are coming off your first championship in a decade, too.
Those reasons and more are likely why the James, Davis and Los Angeles Lakers have opened as +375 favorites to win the 2021 NBA title, via William Hill U.S. Sportsbooks.
Along with the Lakers, the LA Clippers (+400), Milwaukee Bucks (+550) and Golden State Warriors (+800) are near the top.
The Clippers are still seeking a coach to lead Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, while the Bucks are seeking some more help for back-to-back MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Meanwhile, the Warriors anticipate the returns of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, already added Andrew Wiggins, and own the No. 2 pick in the draft to boot.
As for Jimmy Butler and the runner-up Miami Heat, well, they are listed as 15-1 to win next year’s championship.
Next season is expected to begin sometime in January or February.
