The Lakers’ search for a new head coach continues and the franchise could be waiting on the situation with Doc Rivers and the Sixers before making a move, as NBA journalist Marc Stein relays (Substack).
Some around the league believe that Philadelphia could move on from Rivers if the team doesn’t advance past Miami and make the Eastern Conference Finals. Rivers has three seasons (and $24 million) left on his contract.
Another candidate for Los Angeles is Quin Synder, who could part ways with Utah in the coming weeks. Charlotte would reportedly also have interest in Synder if he leaves the Jazz.
While Rivers and Synder may have the Lakers’ attention, the franchise is looking at other candidates in the meantime. Los Angeles has interviewed former Warriors coach Mark Jackson, Bucks assistant Darvin Ham, former Blazers coach Terry Stotts, and Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin for the team’s opening.
