Veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas is seeking a return to the NBA and the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks are among the teams with an interest, per Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.
Thomas led the Eastern Conference in scoring at 28.9 points per game during the 2016-17 season, but suffered a major hip injury in the conference finals and hasn’t been able to rediscover that type of rhythm since. He has since said he is feeling 100% healthy.
Thomas, 32, is 5-foot-9 and was expected to be the key acquisition in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving trade with the Boston Celtics in August 2017. But he was unable to produce what the Cavs sought and was dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline of that same season.
He has since had runs with the Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards, before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in February 2020.. The Clippers waived Thomas two days later.
Thomas averaged 12.2 points and 3.7 assists in 40 games as a member of the Wizards in his last NBA season.
