The New York Knicks will likely consider all options to improve the roster this offseason, their first with Leon Rose as team president and Tom Thibodeau as coach, as relayed by Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
One of those attempts at improvement will be to try to land a difference-maker at point guard.
“The Knicks have multiple avenues toward achieving their goal of acquiring a point guard, with the trade season, free agency and draft all unfolding in the next two months,” Bondy wrote. “They have the assets to land Chris Paul, the cap space to sign Fred VanVleet or the pick to land a prospect.”
The Knicks own the No. 8 overall pick in the draft lottery and could be focusing on Iowa State combo guard Tyrese Haliburton, Bondy wrote in a wide-ranging feature.

- Trying to land Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo should be Knicks priority a this offseason, Bondy opined. Paul would also “would push the young Knicks to greater heights,” he wrote.
- Any move the Knicks make this offseason is likely to be done with small forward R.J. Barrett in mind — or more specifically, how an acquisition would fit alongside Barrett, according to Ian Begley of SNY.tv.
- French point guard Killian Hayes could be another option for the Knicks with the eighth overall pick, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.
- In case you missed it, a Carmelo Anthony reunion with the Knicks apparently isn’t out of the question. Especially if they were able to trade for Paul.
