The New York Knicks have granted point guard Dennis Smith Jr. his request to play for the Westchester Knicks in the G League bubble, taking place later this month.
Smith actually asked to be sent to the G League, given that he has not been in coach Tom Thibodeau’s rotation. He has appeared in just three of the Knicks’ first 21 games.
Along with Smith, the Knicks are assigning second-year forward Ignas Brazdeikis and two-way point guard Jared Harper to Westchester as well. Forwards Skal Labissiere and James Young, two former NBA first-round picks, will also play for Westchester.
Meanwhile, as noted by Marc Berman of the New York Post, two-way guard/forward Theo Pinson will remain with the Knicks and not head to the G League. “President Leon Rose was Pinson’s former CAA agent and loves him as a locker-room guy,” Berman reported.
The bubble will be held at Walt Disney World Resort, where the NBA concluded its 2019-20 season.
