The Orlando Magic earned their 18th victory this season with a 118-111 victory in D.C. over the Washington Wizards.
With the win, the Magic move to 18-11 on the season and it’s the fifth-straight win for Orlando in the Magic-Wizards Southeastern Division rivalry (Washington’s last win came in January of 2023).
Orlando had a balanced attack from multiple Magic players—one of those players was Magic rookie Anthony Black. Black scored 23 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out an assist, and recorded four steals in the Magic victory. The No. 6 overall pick has been impacting both sides of the ball thus during his successful rookie season.
“We’re playing good ball right now, and I’m just trying to focus on that, honestly,” Black said. “It’s going to come game-by-game, getting more comfortable. So I’m just trying to keep doing things that’s helping us win.”
Franz Wagner led the Magic scoring 28 points on 10-for-17 shooting. He knocked down 2-for-4 from behind the three-point line. He also knocked down 6-for-8 from the free-throw line. Wagner also grabbed eight rebounds, dished out nine assists, and recorded a steal and a block. Wagner spoke on his team’s performance in the win postgame.
“It’s the togetherness that we have, our poise, our communication,” Wagner said. “We have guys that like playing with each other and for each other and I think that shows in the last couple of minutes when stuff isn’t going our way that we come together and kind of find our groove again.”
