The Washington Wizards defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 114-106 in Minneapolis to earn their 28th victory of the season. The Wizards now are at 28-30 overall and in ninth place in the East heading into the NBA All-Star break. The team found themselves in a 20-point hole at one point during this game. However, the Wizards were able to claw back and get the victory. Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma both spoke postgame about the Wizards’ resolve and their coming back to get the big win before the All-Star break.
“Probably this is the best game for me this season so far because of how we showed our heart, we stayed in the game, we kept playing,” said Porzingis, who had 14 points. “Some guys were already checked out a little bit. We locked back in and we pulled it out of somewhere.”
“We’ve just got to keep building these habits that we’re doing right now,” Kuzma said. “I think we’re playing great team ball right now.”
Bradley Beal led the team with 35 points on 14-for-28 shooting from the field. Beal scored 13 of his 35 points in the last four minutes of the game to lift the Wizards to the win. Beal knocked down 4-for-8 from behind the three-point line. He knocked down 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Beal also grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists, and recorded three steals. Beal spoke postgame regarding the Wizards’ positive momentum heading into the All-Star break.
“We’re still learning each other, but now we feel like we can take off running,” Beal said.
