The Miami Heat defeated the Memphis Grizzles by a score of 108-102 to earn their fourth victory of the season.
The Heat have now improved to 4-4 on the season. The Grizzles cut the Heat’s lead to 105-102 late in the fourth quarter, though Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. hit a big three-pointer to ice the game and give Miami the win. Jaquez spoke to the media postgame about his team’s win and his feel for the game.
“I knew I was going to get an opportunity because of the way (the Grizzlies) were playing me. Not looking at me as a threat,” said Jaquez, the 18th overall pick in this year’s draft. “When I got the shot, I just continue to have confidence in my ability. I work too hard to not have faith in myself to shoot that shot.”
Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra had high praise for Jaquez postgame as well.
“He has some poise, some savviness about him defensively,” Spoelstra said of Jaquez, “so he can play with the vets. … even though he’s a rookie.”
