The Los Angeles Lakers looked to have packed it in early against the Dallas Mavericks. The team was down 27 points early on in the contest. Shots weren’t falling and the Lakers just looked flat. However, before you know it the group had stormed back to erase that deficit and take the lead. The Lakers defeated the Mavericks on their home floor, 111-108. The win was the Lakers’ 29th victory of the season and the team is 29-32 overall. This victory was also the Lakers’ fourth victory in five games. The 27-point comeback was the team’s largest comeback since December 6, 2002. Lakers’ Head Coach Darvin Ham spoke postgame about the win and his team’s resolve.
“The guys never got discouraged,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. “They had that look of frustration, but it wasn’t a look of defeatedness on their faces. Everybody just wanted to stay encouraged.”
Anthony Davis led the way for the Lakers. Davis scored 30 points on 12-for-20 shooting. Davis hit 6-for-9 from the free-throw line. Davis also grabbed 15 rebounds, dished out four assists, recorded a steal, and also blocked three shots.
LeBron James scored 26 points on 10-for-23 shooting. James knocked down 1-for-6 from the three-point line. He knocked down 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. James grabbed eight rebounds, dished out three assists, recorded a steal, and recorded a block as well. James went down with an ankle scare/injury in the third quarter. James would stay down for a minute but eventually stay in the game. He went on to hit some big shots in the fourth quarter to help the Lakers get the win. James spoke on his ankle injury and the importance of this game/win.
“It’s been better,” said James, who limped through the tunnel after the game. “But I wasn’t going to the locker room and not finish the game. The importance of this game and then the momentum that we had, I felt like we could steal one after being down.”
