If you think the Pacers had problems in the middle before … well, things just got worse.
Now, JaKarr Sampson has been suspended for his role in a dustup with San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills, the NBA announced. Sampson, who headbutted Mills during Monday’s loss, will be forced to sit out Wednesday’s game vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Pacers (26-31) are already missing Myles Turner, out with a toe injury, and could be without Goga Bitadze, who suffered a sprained ankle vs. the Spurs. Power forward Domantas Sabonis (sore back) is also out.
The incident between Sampson and Mills occurred with 9:32 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Pacers have lost five of six straight at home.
Mills and Spurs forward Rudy Gay were fined for their roles.
