Kyle Lowry, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, has been upgraded to questionable for Game 3 of Miami’s conference semi-finals series against Philadelphia.
The veteran point guard suffered the hamstring injury in Game 3 of the opening round vs. the Hawks and has missed four consecutive games. If he is unable to play, Gabe Vincent should see a formidable amount of playing time in Lowry’s absence once again.
More Injury & Availability Notes
- Joel Embiid, who was initially ruled out indefinitely due to a concussion and orbital fracture, has been listed as out for Game 3 at home against the Heat. It’s worth noting the MVP candidate still hasn’t cleared concussion protocol and his status could change, but it’s looking more likely that a Game 4 return or a Game 5 if the 76ers force it, for Embiid to return.
- Khris Middleton, who is dealing with a left MCL sprain, continues to make progress in his recovery but remains sidelined indefinitely, the Bucks announced on Thursday.
- Similar to Wednesday’s Game 2, Miami is listing P.J. Tucker (right calf strain), Tyler Herro (left ankle sprain), Caleb Martin (left ankle sprain), Max Strus (right hamstring strain), and Gabe Vincent (right knee irritation) as questionable for Friday’s Game 3 against the 76ers. The expectation once again is for all of them to play with the potential for a Lowry return.
- Bucks’ George Hill, who has been out since April 8 with an abdominal strain, is “very close” to making a return, head coach Mike Budenholzer said on Thursday.
- Celtics’ Marcus Smart, who missed Tuesday’s Game 2 vs. the Bucks due to a thigh contusion, says there’s a “strong likelihood” he returns for Game 3 as the series shifts to Milwaukee.
- Grizzlies big man Steven Adams, who has missed the team’s last three playoff games due to health and safety protocols, has rejoined his teammates and attended Thursday’s practice which is good news as the team doesn’t play Game 3 against Golden State until Saturday giving Adams a little extra time to ease himself back into the lineup.
- Warriors guard Gary Payton II suffered a fractured elbow in the Warriors’ 106-101 loss to the Grizzlies in Game 2 and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the team announced Thursday. Golden State also added veteran Andre Iguodala will be out for at least another week due to an ongoing neck injury.
