Dwight Howard is coming off a championship — his first — with the Los Angeles Lakers. But now he wants to get paid.
From the sounds of things, a larger deal may be more important to Howard than returning to the Lakers. He will be a free agent when the market opens Friday.
“I would love to come back and play for the Lakers again. Hopefully, this year, they give me a contract; that’s the biggest thing,: Howard told former NBA big man Etan Thomas. “I don’t want to play for free anymore. This year, it was like, ‘OK, I’ll do whatever.’ But I think I’ve earned… a contract.”
