The Miami Heat have acquired veteran shooting guard Victor Oladipo in a trade with the Houston Rockets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The deal was consummated just ahead of Thursday’s deadline to make a deal, which has now expired. A FortyEightMinutes source confirmed the trade.
In exchange, the Rockets will receive Kelly Olynyk and guard Avery Bradley from the Heat, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. The teams are also swapping draft picks, though Charania did not offer immediate details.
Miami had been in talks with the Toronto Raptors for Kyle Lowry, Woj added, but Lowry did not get traded.
Oladipo was acquired by the Rockets from the Indiana Pacers as part of the James Harden trade to the Brooklyn Nets. He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Reports suggested that Oladipo preferred the Heat over others and was seriously considering signing with them in the offseason. Now, he can remain in Miami on a long-term deal.
