Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young was diagnosed with a Grade 2 lateral ankle sprain on his left ankle, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Although a timetable to return to action is unclear at this given moment, Wojnarowski adds that Young is expected to be able to return to play once swelling and discomfort are gone.
Young went down with the injury in the Hawks’ overtime loss to the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, as both teams were battling for the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Young is averaging 25.3 points and 9.6 assists per game this season. In Young’s absence, expect Lou Williams, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Kevin Huerter to step up in the scoring and assist departments.
