The Magic boast several young players in which they can build their team around, including Jonathan Isaac, Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter Jr., Franz Wagner, Markelle Fultz and Jalen Suggs.
However, they’re currently sitting with one of the worst records in the league, so in order for them to build towards the future, they may have to ship off some of their veteran players for future assets.
Terrence Ross
Terrence Ross is easily a player the Magic should look to move at the deadline this season, as Ross can provide a steady scoring presence off the bench for a contender with his ability to light it up from three and get to the rim.
Ross could make sense for the Sixers, as the Sixers could swap Danny Green for him. On the Magic’s end, they could waive Green over the offseason for cap relief since he has a fully non-guaranteed salary for next season. It would likely take Philadelphia adding in a first-round pick to get Orlando to pull the trigger. Ross would help space the floor with the Sixers though with Embiid doing much of his damage down in the post.
Ross could also make sense for the Suns, as he’d come in and provide even more scoring to high-octane offense, as he would likely eat a lot of minutes from Landry Shamet. Dario Saric and Jalen Smith could be what the Suns have to give up to make salaries work, as Smith could be a player that needs a new situation. Smith was the 10th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, as he came in with promise as a forward with great athleticism, good shooting and defensive instincts. Perhaps he could find his niche in a rebuilding environment.
Mo Bamba
Mo Bamba is averaging a career-high 10.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while showing tremendous improvements in his ability to shoot the three.
This could be a good time for the Magic to cash in on his trade value, as Carter is likely the future at the center position and Isaac will reclaim his spot as the starting power forward once he returns from injury.
Bamba could be a fit for the Bucks, as they’re searching for a replacement for Brook Lopez at the center position with Lopez likely out for most of if not the entire season. Bamba could easily help replace Lopez’s 3-point shooting and rim protection skills.
Milwaukee would likely have to relinquish Donte DiVincenzo, as DiVincenzo could thrive in a situation where he has the ball in his hands more with his ability to score and pass.
