The Orlando Magic defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-97. The Magic earned their second victory of the season and have improved to 2-6 overall on the season. Cole Anthony scored 31 points on 8 of 17 shooting from the field. He hit six three-pointers as well. Anthony also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out eight assists. Anthony spoke about how the Magic coaches are keeping the team in the right mindset to stay the course. It’s a long season and as long as they practice the right habits they will improve as a team.
“The coaches from Day one, they’ve put a lot of stress on us being a defensive team,” Anthony said. “I think we did a pretty solid job on them tonight. We all kind of bought into that and it showed tonight.”
Magic Rookie Franz Wagner scored 28 points. He shot 10 for 18 from the field. He also made five out of nine from the three-point line. Wagner has been playing well so far during his Rookie campaign. Coach Mosely and the rest of the Magic coaching staff have been really pushing him. He has been responding well and it is translating to his play on the court in a positive way. Coach Mosely spoke on this postgame.
“The guys dug in,” Orlando coach Jamahl Mosley said. “We came out at the half and said, ’You know what? We got to start setting the tone, be more aggressive with the basketball. We did a great job sharing the basketball and guys made big-time plays.”
