The Clippers are trimming down their roster, waiving Ky Bowman, Malik Fitts, and Jordan Ford, the team announces.
Bowman’s exit is somewhat surprising given Los Angeles’ lack of youth at the point guard position. Patrick Beverley is the starter, though he’s backed up by Reggie Jackson with Lou Williams coming off the bench and likely to take on some traditional points guard duties with the second unit. Both Bev and Jackson have missed their fair of time with injuries while Williams has been durable, he recently turned 34.
Bowman, whose nickname is The First 48 (via basketball reference), spent his rookie season in Golden State. He averaged 7.7 points and 2.9 assists per game across 45 games (12 starts).
Fitts, a 6’8″ power forward who went undrafted back in November, split his collegiate time between South Florida and St. Mary’s. Ford, a 6’1″ point guard, was also not drafted in 2020 after playing at St. Mary’s.
