The Celtics are signing Joe Johnson to a 10-day deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Boston currently has several players in the health and safety protocols, including Al Horford and Josh Richardson.
Having to make a move, they decided to bring back a player they drafted 20 years ago, as Johnson has made it known he wanted to return to the NBA despite last appearing in an NBA regular-season game for the Rockets in 2018.
Johnson attempted to return to the league with the Pistons back in 2019 but was released prior before the start of the regular season. Since then, he’s been playing in the Big 3.
Johnson, now 40, is a seven-time All-Star with career averages of 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
Johnson will be available to suit up for the Celtics tonight against the Cavaliers.
