The Cavaliers are beginning their in-person workouts for the draft this week and Dayton power forward Obi Toppin are among those being brought in, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
Toppin is a projected top-10 pick and the Cavs have the fifth overall selection. Cavs GM Koby Altman and his team are said to be fairly high on Toppin.
The NBA Draft will be held virtually and is scheduled for Nov. 18.
Toppin said he has been compared favorably to former Suns standout big man Amar’e Stoudemire. He added that he watches a lot of Lakers power forward Anthony Davis.
Fedor reported the Cavs have already met virtually with Toppin, as well as several other prospects, including Memphis center James Wiseman, Israeli forward Deni Avdija, Auburn guard/forward Isaac Okoro and USC power forward Onyeko Okongwu.
Wiseman and Avdija are projected by many mock drafts to be chosen before the Cavs pick, though in this draft of mystery, both could also slide.
All of the aforementioned prospects are expected to work out for each team drafting in the top five or six spots.
