While all the talk of a Cleveland Cavaliers trade surrounds Andre Drummond, they could also be looking to move fellow veteran center JaVale McGee.
Per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, McGee is drawing interest from multiple contenders. As FortyEightMinutes reported last month, that list of suitors includes the Brooklyn Nets, “who are looking to solidify their interior presence,” Haynes wrote.
The Cavs and Nets have already spoken about a potential McGee trade.
McGee is due to earn $4.2 million this season, with his contract set to expire at the end. Neither McGee nor the Cavs are seeking to buy out the remainder of the deal and will instead focus on a trade.
McGee, 33, has won championships with both the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers, and landing with the Nets would mean again teaming up with Kevin Durant. McGee and Durant played together with the Warriors.
The Cavs have been pleased with McGee, who has maintained a positive attitude and served as a leader on both the court and the locker room — first behind Drummond, and currently behind Jarrett Allen.
They would presumably be seeking another big man in return if they to move McGee. Multiple sources told FortyEightMinutes last week that the Cavs are also open to keeping McGee for the duration of the season.
The Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks are among the others linked to McGee.
The NBA trade deadline is March 25.
