The Cavaliers are open for business ahead of the 2024 trade deadline with the franchise rumored to be on the lookout for 3-and-D wings.
They’ve been connected to several forwards. The team attempted to trade for Nets forward Royce O’Neale last season, though the Nets were uninterested in making a deal, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
This year, the club could circle back to the Nets with Fedor naming Dorian Finney-Smith as someone that Cleveland has interest in. Brooklyn reportedly wouldn’t want an “exorbitant” return for DFS and Fedor lists Dean Wade as a player the Nets have interest in.
P.J. Washington was on the Cavaliers’ radar last summer with Cleveland aiming to work out a sign-and-trade with Charlotte. That never came to fruition. Unless the Hornets change their stance, Washington is unlikely to be moved ahead of the trade deadline. Nevertheless, it’s clear what kind of player Cleveland is targeting.
More Cavaliers Trade Rumors
- Cleveland hasn’t shown any inclination that they will trade their core four players—Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen—according to Fedor. The Cleveland scribe is the latest media member to state that Mitchell isn’t likely to go anywhere ahead of the trade deadline despite plenty of rumors suggesting the contrary.
- If the team were to move Allen in a deal that brought in draft capital, the Thunder would be a fit, as we recently wrote.
