Potential top-5 pick Jonathan Kuminga held his pro day over the weekend in front of several league executives including those of the Cavaliers, according to Chris Fedor of cleveland.com.
People in attendance got a close up look at the 6-foot-8 forward’s unique mix of size, length, athleticism and skill, and also showcased an improved jumper than his season in the G-League indicated.
“He showed up and shot it well,” a scout said. “He really helped himself today. He won’t fall past No. 5.”
Cade Cunningham and Evan Mobley will likely be the top two picks in the draft as of now, but with Cleveland sitting pretty at the third spot, Kuminga could very well be the guy the Cavs select on draft night. Jalen Green and Jalen Suggs will also be in that mix.
“He’s a big-time prospect,” an NBA executive said. “An incredible talent who shouldn’t be overlooked.”
Cleveland will bring Kuminga in for a private workout next month, per Fedor.
