The Milwaukee Bucks have signed rookie forward Mamadi Diakite to a multiyear contract, the team announced. Along with Diakite, the Bucks made the signing of free agent guard/forward Justin Jackson official.
Diakite, 24, is 6-foot-9 and went undrafted out of Virginia. He signed a two-way deal with the Bucks in training camp — but played for the Lakeland Magic in the G League bubble, as the Wisconsin Herd opted not to participate. He has appeared in 11 games with the Bucks, averaging 2.5 points and 2.3 rebounds.
“I have more to prove, I have more to give to the team and I have more to show to the fans,” Diakite told Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Them doing this shows me that they trust me in many ways, but I still have work to do. I’m someone who always got it out of the mud and I’ll keep fighting my way through that.”
