Stan Van Gundy is bringing in an old friend to assist him with the New Orleans Pelicans.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Van Gundy has hired Sacramento assistant Bob Beyer away from the Kings.
Beyer was an assistant under Van Gundy with both the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic. Now, he is joining Van Gundy for a chance to coach Zion Williamson.
Beyer, 58, previously coached Siena College (1994-97) and has spent the rest of his career as an assistant, both at the collegiate and NBA levels.
Along with the Kings, Pistons and Magic, he has been an assistant with the Charlotte Hornets, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder.
It has not yet been determined what Kings coach Luke Walton intends to do with the assistant coaching vacancy.
