The Miami Heat were able to get back in the win column Sunday with a 109-107 stunner over the Brooklyn Nets, thanks to the heroics of Bam Adebayo.
Adebayo scored 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting, grabbing 15 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists. His most important basket, of course, was the game-winner as time expired. Adebayo was originally supposed to call a timeout. He had other plans and instead went iso and knocked down a mid-range jumper right as the clock hit 0:00. Adebayo was ready and told the media postgame what he told himself at that crucial point of the game.
“Your moment,” Adebayo said he told himself.
Jimmy Butler called the team soft after their previous game, a loss at Minnesota. The Heat responded with a victory and what hopes to be a boost in their confidence.
Multiple Heat players stepped up big in the win over Brooklyn. Kendrick Nunn scored 17 points on 6-of-13 from the field. Trevor Ariza scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Duncan Robinson scored 11 points. Dewayne Dedmon scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench. Goran Dragic scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Heat are back in action Monday in Miami against the Houston Rockets. Tipoff is at 8 pm Eastern/ 5 pm Pacific.
