The Los Angeles Lakers were able to get back in the winning column with a 99-94 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lakers have been skidding lately since their Superstar LeBron James has been out of the lineup due to a sore knee. The Lakers have been trying to hold down the fort until he returns to play. One of their other Superstars, Anthony Davis did a great job against Portland holding things down. He delivered a great performance scoring 30 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the field. He played 37 total minutes. He also grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and also dished out two assists. Davis spoke on his mindset coming into the game during the Lakers’ Postgame interviews.
“I just tried to come out with the mindset of ending the streak,” said Davis, who is averaging 29.3 points over his last three games. “We have to play with some urgency. We just fought hard tonight. It was a great game for us.”
Lakers’ Head Coach Frank Vogel spoke Postgame about how happy he was with Anthony Davis’ performance. Vogel knows that Davis is a big part of what the Lakers do and a key to their success. Davis has missed a big chunk of the season due to his MCL injury. Vogel knows that with Davis playing at a high level that the Lakers can turn their season around and compete for a NBA Championship.
“He had some great sequences of grabbing rebounds in traffic,” coach Frank Vogel said. “Tonight was about mental toughness and making enough plays and shots. It was a hell of a game by Anthony.”
