Update (Sunday): Drummond has made a decision. According to Woj, the big man will indeed sign with the Lakers once he clears waivers at 5 pm ET on Sunday.
The Lakers are considered the “strong frontrunner” in the Andre Drummond sweepstakes, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
Players from the team have reportedly been recruiting the big man and while there is no word on which players are making the pitches, our own Sam Amico, who covered LeBron James during both his stints in Cleveland, shared that the 4-time MVP was known for trying to get big names to the Cavs when he was there.
Drummond finalized his buyout with the Cavaliers on Friday and the Lakers were reportedly just one of the teams in the mix with the Celtics, Clippers, Hornets, and Knicks rounding out the franchises he reportedly narrowed his decision down to. The former No. 9 overall pick’s final decision could come at any moment now.
