There’s been a lot of rumors about the Blazers’ head coaching gig, though one thing is clear: Jason Kidd is Damian Lillard‘s top choice. The superstar came right out and said that he wants the Lakers assistant to get the job.
With that kind of endorsement, it begs the question: Does Kidd want the job? Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson of Bally Sports hears that the former Nets point guard does indeed have interest in the position.
Kidd and Lillard well-established have a great relationship and perhaps, if the Blazers go away from Lillard’s recommendation, it could signal that the point guard will begin to soften up to playing elsewhere.

- There’s no reason for the Knicks not to be at the front of the line if the Blazers entertain Lillard offers, Mike Vaccaro of The New York Post opines. We’re heard that rival teams in “top markets” are preparing to make offers in the event that Lillard is available and New York has the assets to make a competitive offer.
- The Lakers have championship expectations and it’s clear that they have their work cut out for them. GM Rob Pelinka indicated that the team has already begun work to get the franchise their next trophy. “Jeanie [Buss] and the ownership group has empowered the front office to do one thing, and that’s to smartly build a roster to win championships,” Pelinka said (via ESPN). “I think next year, of course, hopefully, with all of our fans being able to come back and be a part of the building, we owe them the work to start the process of retooling and have a championship-caliber team that can do special things next year.”
- Blake Griffin battled through injuries with the Pistons, though he’s now with the Nets, which allows him a chance to carry less of a load and mitigate the risk of injury while also providing a winning atmosphere. “For two years, I didn’t hear much positivity, and probably rightfully so,” Griffin said. “But it’s pretty crazy how quickly it happens. I’m just thankful for this chance.”
