WASHINGTON D.C. — Scott Brooks’ future status as the coach of the Wizards gained no more clarity after Brooks and Tommy Sheppard spoke to the media in Washington.
“We’re not doing anything about that today. We’re going to do a top to bottom evaluation within the organization,’ Sheppard told FortyEightMinutes.com and other media on Thursday.
“It’s obviously well documented that my contract is up,” Brook said. “Never focused on that last summer…Haven’t thought about it much other than last night getting questions and this morning. That’s not how I live my life.”
Brooks’ contract is up this offseason and he said coaching the Wizards during a contract year didn’t impact the job he did.
“Let’s be honest,” Brooks explained. “You could have three or four years left on your contract, does that really mean anything?”
The Wizards made the playoffs this season after going through struggles with injuries, such as losing Thomas Bryant for the year and Russell Westbrook for a significant stretch, and COVID battles that forced the team to lockdown in the middle of the season. Many teams might have folded but Washington battled back under the leadership of Brooks, Bradley Beal, and Westbrook.
