The Warriors just missed the cut for this year’s postseason but the franchise won’t stand idle as they look to re-establish their place in the NBA’s second season. Golden State is likely to explore all trade possibilities this summer that do not include Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson of Draymond Green Mark Medina of USA Today writes.
“I expect to be extremely involved. It’s just the way it’s got to be,” Green said about the team’s offseason roster decisions.
The Warriors may have an additional asset come to them this season via the Timberwolves pick (which is only top-3 protected). Regardless of whether they make a massive deal with that pick or 2020 No. 2 pick James Wiseman, the team is expected to look quite different with Kelly Oubre likely leaving in free agency and the front office being aggressive on the trade front.
More NBA Rumors
- The Pacers won’t make an immediate decision on the future of coach Nate Bjorkgren, per Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files. There were rumors of tension in the locker room between the coach and the players in Indiana and with the team out of the playoff picture, the franchise will take its time evaluating Bjorkgren.
- DeMar DeRozan will hit the free-agent market and he’s expected to hear out plenty of potential suitors, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News. It was previously reported that he would have tested the market last summer if it had not been for the pandemic, though he’s publicly expressed his happiness in playing for the Spurs. “It’s definitely an honor to play for this organization,” DeRozan said when the club’s season officially concluded this week. “Everything they did for me and how they treated me, it was definitely A1.”
- The NBA remains interested in a midseason tournament and intends to restart conversations with the players’ association about it, as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reported. There are many hurdles remaining but such a proposal may lead to the regular season being shortened slightly, possibly to 78 games.
