Shaquille O’Neal always has a lot to say about the NBA on his Big Podcast with Shaq, and some of his latest comments relate specifically to his former team.
That would be none other than the Los Angeles Lakers, fresh off their first championship in a decade.
And apparently, not everything that resulted from that title sat well with O’Neal, a four-time champion himself (including three with the Lakers).
“You know what I don’t like as a player?” he asked. “It’s a lot of (Lakers) players on their little Instagram bragging like they were the reasons they got the championship. I ain’t gon’ say no names.”
O’Neal is a 15-time All-Star and former NBA MVP. Three of his titles came alongside Kobe Bryant while with the Lakers. They actually made four straight appearances in the championship series, but lost to the Detroit Pistons in 2004.
Two years later, Shaq was back, winning a championship with Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat.
He also played with current Lakers star LeBron James back in 2009-10 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Clearly, Shaq’s comments aren’t about LeBron or Anthony Davis — the two biggest reasons the Lakers are back on top.
“I know you know who I’m talking about,” O’Neal said. “Stop it. Frontrunner. Bandwagon jumper. Stop it. Post one pic and sit your a** down.”
