The Oklahoma City Thunder’s losing streak extends to 11 in a 119-107 loss to the Washington Wizards. The win puts the wizards one game closer to the play-in game and Russell Westbrook scored himself his second triple-double in a row.
The Thunder gave themselves many opportunities and kept the game close, but could not stop the Wizards late in the game. “It came down to getting stops and limiting second-chance points,” said Darius Bazley
Bazley set a new career-high with 26 points on 7-19 shooting and 11-13 on free throws. The 6’8 forward continues to impress coming back from injury as he is averaging 20.8 PPG in his last four games.
On the other end of the court, Bazley was challenged with guarding Russell Westbrook for the entirety of the game. “I was excited for the opportunity I was a bit surprised when coach said I was matched to him. I thought I did okay. I know I’m not going to hold anybody to zero points,” said Bazley.
“He is playing in straight lines, he is really starting to understand his own strength. He is really starting to understand how athletic and strong he is,” said Coach Daigneault about Darius Bazley.
Tony Bradley played more than he usually would have due to Moses Brown being in foul trouble. Bradley’s extended minutes led to 16 points on 7-8 shooting. Another spark to the offense was Theo Maledon who added 14 points and five assists.
The Thunder seemed to have no answer for Bradley Beal or Davis Bertans. Beal finished with 30 points on 12-21 shooting (3-4 for three) while Bertans added 21 of his own on 6-12 shooting from behind the arc.
