Miami Heat assistant Dan Craig made a “strong impression” in his interview for the Indiana Pacers coaching vacancy, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Craig is among a reported candidate list that is also said to include former NBA guard Chauncey Billups, former Houston Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni and current New Orleans Pelicans assistant Chris Finch.
Fellow Heat assistant Chris Quinn is also among those who reportedly interviewed for the job.
Craig, 40, has been with the Heat since 2003, when he began as a video intern. He has served as an assistant under Erik Spoelstra since 2o12, with a year break (2015-16) to coach the G-League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce.
The Heat are coming off their first Finals appearance since 2014, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
Meanwhile, the Pacers are looking to replace Nate McMillan, fired after a first-round playoff exit. Finch reportedly is the frontrunner for the position.
