The Minnesota Timberwolves currently own the worst record in the league. However, they still have no intentions of trading Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell or Anthony Edwards, according to Jon Krawcynski of The Athletic.
Krawcynski added that the Timberwolves view all three guys as cornerstone pieces and want to see how all three of them would look together under new head coach Chris Finch when Russell returns.
It should come as no surprise that the Timberwolves want to hold on to Towns, as they have a face of the franchise type of player locked up on a max deal who wants to stay in Minneapolis for the long haul.

- The Timberwolves have received several calls regarding the availability of Jaden McDaniels and Malik Beasley. However, Minnesota has shown reluctance to trade either player, as they view McDaniels as a shot-blocking forward that can slide in next to Towns for the future and take a ton of pressure off of him defensively.
- Krawcynski notes that Ricky Rubio‘s recent resurgence could attract multiple contenders, but his $17 million salary next season could make teams hesitant to trade for him. Rubio is also revered by Towns and Edwards.
- Minnesota had “serious” talks with the Orlando Magic regarding Aaron Gordon back in January before his bad ankle sprain, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times. Gordon is said to be seeking a winning situation, though he could be a part of one next season in Minnesota with Towns, Russell and Edwards in the fold.
- On Adrian Wojnarowski’s Trade Deadline special, ESPN’s Zach Lowe said that the Magic “would love to get their hands on” McDaniels in any potential deal for Gordon. (h/t Hoops Rumors)
