It’s rebuild time for the Houston Rockets, and given that truth, they want more than to just dump forward P.J. Tucker.
Instead, the Rockets are seeking a young player in return. In fact, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, they’re more interested in a young player than just draft picks.
Tucker, 35, parted ways with his teammates last week when the team was in Sacramento. He is now sitting out as the Rockets wait for a resolution.
According to ESPN, the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat have an interest in Tucker. FortyEightMinutes relayed recently that the Milwaukee Bucks are also interested.
Of all those rival teams, the Heat are considered the favorite to land Tucker, per Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.
“We’re going to try to figure out something that works for him and works for us as far as him not being on the team anymore,” Rockets coach Stephen Silas recently told reporters. “I was under the assumption that he was going to be playing (vs. the Kings), and he didn’t play. That was disappointing, but there’s no secret that it’s been a rough year.
“He’s been professional. He’s been in the lineup and trying and doing what he can, but at this point, we’re going to do what’s best for the group and do what’s best for P.J., and that’s probably not having him here.”
