The Houston Rockets are signing shooting guard Mason Jones to a 10-day contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Jones had been with the Rockets on a two-way contract, but was waived earlier this week to make room for small forward Anthony Lamb, previously of the the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Jones is 6-foor-4 and went undrafted out of Arkansas. He has definitely shown some promise, scoring 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting in his lone start with the Rockets. Overall, he connected on 43.7 percent of his shots, including 36.7 percent of his 3-pointers, in 22 games.
Meanwhile, Lambi is 6-6 and went undrafted out of Vermont. He averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds for the Vipers inside the G League bubble.
“If Victor Oladipo does not play on Friday in the second half of the back-to-back and John Wall is out, the Rockets would had just seven available players prior to signing Jones,” noted Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. They will reach the league minimum of eight with five rookies, including their two players on two-way contracts.”
