Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair is adding Wes Wilcox as assistant general manager in a revamping of the front office, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Wilcox is a former GM of the Atlanta Hawks under Danny Ferry, and also worked as an assistant GM with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wilcox was also a reported finalist for the Kings job McNair eventually landed in September.
Along with the hiring of Wilcox, McNair is adding Philadelphia 76ers scouting director Phil Jabour as VP of player personnel and the Oklahoma City Thunder executive Paul Johnson as director of basketball operations, Wojnarowski reported. Johnson was named assistant GM of the G-League’s Oklahoma City Blue two weeks ago.
McNair took over for Vlade Divac and needed to find a replacement for former assistant GM Peja Stojakovic. Both Divac and Stojakovic resigned and the Kings later also parted ways with Anthony McClish, the GM of their G-League affiliate in Stockton, Calif.
They reportedly will retain assistant GM Ken Catanella, the team’s salary-cap guru.
