The New Orleans Pelicans have included veteran guard Eric Bledsoe in trade talks as the team is apparently open to shaking up the backcourt, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
Windhorst’s report, via “The Jump,” comes one day after a report that the Pelicans were open to listening to trade offers for point guard Lonzo Ball and shooting guard J.J. Redick.
“Yes, and it’s not just those two guys,” Windhorst said. “Eric Bledsoe has also been involved in trade talks, and in a lot of cases, it’s the Pelicans making those calls. There’s interest there to move out some of the veteran guards to make room for Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kira Lewis, their first-round draft pick, to get those guys some playing time. The Pelicans are going to be making some changes, I believe.”
Pelicans head of basketball operations David Griffin recently spoke on the importance of waiting for the right opportunity to cash in the team’s draft stock earlier in the week and with the team sitting at 6-10, it appears that this won’t be the year that he goes “all-in” to surround Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram with another top player in the hopes of seriously competing in the West.
The Pelicans recently spoke to the Golden State Warriors about small forward Kelly Oubre Jr., though Warriors coach Steve Kerr stressed no offer has been made for Oubre.
