The Sixers are now 0-4 without Joel Embiid in the lineup, including the contest against Denver where Philadelphia had just seven healthy players.
The club got out to a slow start in Detroit, sporting the Pistons a 14-point lead and Philly couldn’t come back in the contest. Despite the poor showing, coach Doc Rivers said he’s not concerned.
“I’ll let you guys push the buttons…It’s one loss,” Rivers said.

- Rivers added that he likes Dwight Howard with the second group, which is why Tony Bradley started the second half. Howard started the game (and each of the previous three that Joel missed) but the coach hinted Bradley may get the nod in an Embiid-less situation later in the season.
- Bradley, asked after the game about Doc’s comments, said he had no preference on whether he started or played with the second unit.
- Tyrese Maxey on getting more looks with Embiid out. “I just go out there and be aggressive and that’s all I can be,” said the rookie, who had 17 points tonight. Maxey hadn’t scored that many points since the January 9th contest against the Nuggets where he had 39 for a severely undermanned Sixers club.
- Rivers on the Los Angeles Lakers coming to Philadelphia (Wednesday): “Well I haven’t thought about it much to be honest…they have LeBron James on their team…I thought they had the best summer of all teams. Doesn’t mean they are going to win it all but they are better than they were last year.”
