Magic guard Markelle Fultz underwent surgery on a torn ACL suffered earlier this month, the team announced in a release.
Along with that, the Magic announced that Fultz will indeed miss the entire season. Not only that, but his return next year, while expected, will be determined by how well he responds to rehabilitation.
Fultz, 22, was the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2017. He was averaging a career-best 14.3 points and 6.1 assists in his first seven games this season before the injury.
He signed a three-year contract extension last month.
Along with Fultz, the Magic will be without forward Jonathan Isaac, who suffered a torn ACL of his own during the NBA restart over the summer.
The Magic have been granted one disabled player exception and has applied for another following the Fultz injury.
