Former WNBA All-Star point guard Cappie Pondexter was found in Los Angeles after having been reported missing early Thursday, according to TMZ Sports.
Earlier in the day, TMZ Sports cited Pondexter’s rep as confirming she had been arrested Tuesday on a misdemeanor battery charge. At the time, she reportedly refused to give her name, leading to her unknown whereabouts. Pondexter was jailed, then released from jail, and then went missing again after being released Thursday.
She was originally declared missing after having not been heard from in several days, Lyndsey D’Arcangelo reported. D’Arcangelo added that Pondexter’s wallet and phone were found at her home.
The WNBA released a statement on the Pondexter’s disapperance.
“We are sharing this out of concern for our fellow WNBPA sister, Cappie Pondexter,” the statement read. “If you have any information, please contact authorities. Please help us spread the word and ensure that she is safe.”
Pondexter, 37, spent 13 seasons in the WNBA playing for five teams — the Phoenix Mercury, New York Liberty, Chicago Sky, Los Angeles Sparks and Indiana Fever.
She was drafted out of Rutgers with the second overall pick in 2006, announcing her retirement on Instagram in April 2018.
