The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired center/forward Ed Davis from the New York Knicks, the team announced in a release.
In return for Davis, the Timberwolves are sending forward Omari Spellman, shooting guard Jacob Evans and a second-round draft pick back to the Knicks.
Davis was traded by the Utah Jazz to the Knicks early in the week as more or a less a salary dump. He is expected to provide some leadership, as well as some relief for Timberwolves starter Karl-Anthony Towns.
Meanwhile, Spellman has a good chance to make the Knicks’ opening-night roster, per Marc Berman of the New York Post. Evans’ status moving forward is up in the air. Spellman played high school basketball in North Royalton, Ohio.
