Wizards center Daniel Gafford played both football and basketball in high school and he recently spoke about making the transition from the gridiron to the hardwood.
“My transition from football to basketball was tough because I was coming in from the football season right into our conditioning period,” Gafford told FortyEightMinutes and other media via zoom ahead of Super Bowl LV.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow made headlines for suggesting that he could make the NBA as a 3-and-D player. Gafford doesn’t doubt that the former LSU champion could get there if that’s the goal.
“There’s a lot of guys out there who are really built different,” Gafford said. “If he says he can do it, props to him.”
Gafford, who attended the University of Arkansas before becoming the No. 38 overall pick in the 2019 draft, said he’s pulling for the Bengals on Sunday evening, though he has rooting interest on both sides.
