Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is in his 19th season in the NBA and has been able to avoid too many significant injuries thus far.
Much of it has to do with luck, his training regime in the off-season, and working with his trainer Mike Mancias, who is always with him along with a masseus, according to his former body double, Sheldon Bailey.
“When you talk about durability, when you look at the games, while in the bubble. LeBron [James] is in the tunnel doing lunges with a twist. He has been with his trainer and every set there may or may not be some security,” said Bailey.
“However, LeBron [James] always has his trainer and on his rider, he has a masseuse. Dude is literally working his muscles or getting them worked on, and he has a chef. Look how he is performing at one particular level at what year in his career. Some guys don’t want to do the work, but it also takes the right introduction somewhere in the program. So, guys know how to do the work.”
Speaking of Mancias, he was recently on Instagram Live with television host Richard Dolan sponsored by Tripp Sitter.
During the conversation, the two discuss “Mind Health and Performance” during COVID-19.
“I guess we learned that the mind is the engine, and you could have a fancy car with all the bells and whistles, but the engine is backfiring. So if the engine isn’t firing the way it should, the whole car won’t function efficiently, and the mind controls it,” said Mancias.
“The mind controls the body [and] the mind can push the body further than you think that you can do. So, it all starts with the mind, and it all starts with mindfulness. The right mindset before you start training for a game, before a competition, before a meeting, and before anything else. You have the right mindset.”
Trip Sitter Clinic empowers patients to start a customized, physician-directed treatment plan that will provide them with the long-term respite they need from chronic mental health disorders while also opening up new healing pathways.
Mancias was asked how it has been important from the perspective of accessing more health in the world of the NBA?
“I say just access! Before programs like Trip Sitter were around, we wouldn’t have a lot of resources in this particular realm. Some of us always had mental health coaches, psychiatrists, counselors helping us out, but now we are able to access a whole different avenue of mental health. I’m just excited and grateful to have access to all of this.”
