The Los Angeles Lakers were able to get back on track at home in Los Angeles, defeating the Boston Celtics 117-102 and improving to 13-12 on the season.
LeBron James led the way for the Lakers. James scored 30 points on 13-for-19 shooting. James also knocked down 2-for-5 from the three-point line, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out five assists.
James has missed some significant time lately and the Lakers have struggled. The difference between James in the lineup and out of it is astronomical; the world knows that as well as James and his teammates. James spoke on his teamβs performance postgame.
βI just like the way we competed tonight on both sides of the floor,β James said. βWe had a lot of intensity, a lot of ball movement. Guys were attacking the rim. I think defensively, besides the first 14-point avalanche on Tatumβs part, we locked in from that point forward.β
Russell Westbrook played in his first Lakers-Celtics rivalry as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Growing up in Los Angeles he grew up a Laker fan so the nostalgia of this matchup was very real for him. He came out turned up and delivered a great performance. Westbrook scored 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the field. He hit 1-for-4 from the three-point line. Westbrook also grabbed three rebounds and dished out 11 assists. Westbrook spoke postgame about his approach to this game.
